Proposal #1

Subject to obtaining all relevant approvals from the Los Gatos Post Office and Ron Ronconi a priori, ORRUA shall obtain locking mailboxes (Salsbury 4145 or equivalent) for all ORRUA residents at the lowest discount that can be negotiated, and shall have built an enclosure for these mailboxes at a low cost for good quality work which shall be situated on the edge of Ron Ronconi's property along the easement at the top of Old Ranch Road.

The cost of this will be approximately 32 x $125 - 25% discount + 8.25% tax + 0% shipping = $3,247.50 (this is $101 each delivered) for the mailboxes and 1 locking outgoing mailbox(*) plus ~$1600 (Paul Columbo estimate) for buying materials, constructing and enclosure, and mounting the mailboxes within it. This is a total cost of approximately $4,850 (an average of $151 each installed).

If a stone exterior is desired for the enclosure, an additional $1000+ may be spent.

Joseph Ols volunteers to donate some building materials for this project (a new unopened pack of 30-year shingles, some wood, etc.) to reduce the cost, and to help manage.

(*) We will first try to get the Post Office to pay/install an outgoing mailbox. If not, to install Salsbury 4975G or 4275B or equivalent at add'l cost.

Possible Reasons to Support Proposal #1
(vs. buying free-standing boxes at present location)

1. Security Trailside 2000 does not lock outgoing mail, as well as incoming
2. Red Tape Trailside 2000 is not USPS approved
· These boxes are
· This was given oral approval by Los Gatos Post Mistress and local mailman for this project (mailman was very positive / enthusiastic re safety/etc.)
3. Expense Approx. $1000 less (~$5000 vs ~$6000). Plus should last longer
4. Box aesthetics These may look nicer now, plus may retain their looks longer
· Less likely to bend, chip, dent, etc.
· harder to vandalize
5. Enclosure aesthetics A nice permanent enclosure could reflect ORR better
· may be nicer to look at
· may help home resale values
· etc.
6. Safer Hutchinson is dangerous
· More traffic, Faster traffic, Blind spot from The-Hump
· Some cars (incl mailman) park "wrong side" for mailbox access
· Cars that park on the "right side" put the driver in harms way, if they (or car door) cannot be clearly seen over hump
7. More Convenient Don't have to get out of your car to get mail
· Quicker / save time
· Won't get rained on
8. More Flexible Option to install Parcel Locking Boxes as part of this structure, etc.

Proposal #2

Subject to obtaining all relevant approvals from the Los Gatos Post Office and Ron Ronconi a priori, and subject to ORRUA approval of constructing a new mailbox enclosure, ORRUA shall obtain 6 capture-key USPS-approved locking parcel boxes (Salsbury 3402U or equivalent) for use by all ORRUA residents at the lowest discount that can be negotiated, and shall have built a matching enclosure for these parcel boxes next to the mailbox enclosure.

The cost will be approximately $500 per each two parcel boxes - 25% discount + 8.25% tax + 0% shipping = $1217, plus ~$400 for the additional enclosure, for a total of approximately $1617 ($52 per person on ORR).

Joseph Ols volunteers to donate some building materials for this project (a new unopened pack of 30-year shingles, some wood, etc.), and to help manage this.

1. CONVENIENCE!! We can get USPS packages delivered at our mailboxes, so that we won't have to go to the Post Office and wait in long lines!
· when they are open
· before they return our packages
